The guide

Plan your Austin weekend

Everything your group needs is a few minutes from the house. Here is where we send our guests. This is a first cut; we are adding curated bachelorette, bachelor, and golf itineraries next.

Eat

Some of the best food in Austin is a short walk or ride from the house.

  • Franklin Barbecue Austin's most famous brisket. Go early or order ahead.
  • La Barbecue Cult-favorite East Side barbecue, a little less line.
  • Hestia Michelin-starred, wood-fired fine dining for the nice dinner.
  • Nixta Taqueria Michelin-recognized modern tacos, minutes away.
  • Suerte Acclaimed East Austin Mexican; book ahead for a group.
  • Veracruz All Natural The migas taco that started it all. Perfect morning-after fuel.

Drink and dance

From honky-tonk two-stepping to rooftop cocktails, all close by.

  • The White Horse East Side honky-tonk: two-stepping, free dance lessons, live country.
  • Rainey Street Bungalow bars and skyline rooftops, about a seven-minute walk.
  • East 6th The walkable strip of neighborhood bars and patios.
  • Zilker Brewing Local brewery and taproom right on East 6th.
  • Dirty Sixth The classic downtown bar crawl when you want chaos.

Daytime and the lake

Recover, get outside, and burn off last night.

  • Lady Bird Lake Boardwalk Walk or run the lakefront loop by Longhorn Dam.
  • Festival Beach Low-key riverfront park on the East Side.
  • Kayak or paddleboard Rent on Lady Bird Lake for a downtown-skyline paddle.
  • Barton Springs A cool 68-degree spring-fed pool when it is hot.

Live music and game day

The reason half of Austin exists.

  • Stubb's Legendary BBQ and an outdoor amphitheater for touring acts.
  • Moody Theater (ACL Live) Where the Austin City Limits TV show is taped.
  • Moody Center UT arena for arena tours and Longhorns basketball.
  • DKR Stadium Longhorns football. Our UT-weekend homes are built around it.
